For the heart roars with poetry when it hits a turning point…~mtg
by Marites Avisado-Responte
A morning so cold and misty
My melancholic sighs revealed the
the pain of your absence…
Birds from afar sang a poignant melody
mocking the emptiness as the sounds
of your leaving footsteps barely heard…
The leafless trees raised their boughs with
rancour to welcome the faint gleam of the
morning sun.. made me think the loss
of vigor to live when your gaze so distant
and goodbyes carelessly spoken…
Morning dews lost their luster as tiny drops of
snow fell unceasingly… blurring my hope to bring you back
into my midst, I so desired.
My timeless devotion you can own… I so promised
Yet you chose to depart and only memories I gripped
To go on living and find the pieces to make me whole again…
Where are the colors this world made?
As I danced with you in the summer delight
Would my heart ever sing again? As the leaves
sway gracefully in the autumn breeze…
Now, your absence brought numb of sorrow
and frozen plea not heard…drowned in the stillness of the winter morning….
