New Year’s Eve

For the heart roars with poetry when it hits a turning point…~mtg

For you, I bravely waited when dusk seemed winning

At nights you invade my thoughts, memories were taunting

But as sure as the sun that greets me each morning

I know that you would come, so I kept on waiting.

Reset, I believe, is a gift you always bring

Wounds of broken dreams await you for healing

A chance to let go, an opportunity for forgiving

And so patiently I waited, as the hour clock is ticking.

While voices and laughter of merriment are mingling

Silence from a longing heart, deep inside is deafening

And so as the gentle call of the church bell is ringing

For you, I calmly whispered a prayer of thanksgiving.

Hope, shared by humanity, is a present you’re ushering

A new leaf for self-renewal, for new dreams I am re-starting

For peace and prosperity, a whole new future you’re offering

New Year – you’re just a moment, but from the Almighty a blessing.
