Sorry, your mom is not perfect

If  you had a perfect mother                                                                                                                                               Would you have grown happier, in self-doubt freer
Overwhelmed with gratitude, accomplished but fair
Confidently breaking barriers, values family without fear?

If you had a perfect mother
Would you have been less blunt; she without tears
Tracing moments of grace, not the moments she failed
Together mending brokenness, listening to heal?

Sorry, your mom is not perfect.
She, who protected you from childhood nightmares.
She, who braved her storms to shield you from despair.                                                                                                            She, who failed your expectations with only her love to fill.
